Thanks to Sensei Kentaro Nagamine for inviting us to demonstrate for his children’s class. This was a great opportunity to bring together two Japanese arts that were used thousands of years ago for war purposes and are now used for recreation and sport.

The Las Vegas 5K is teaming up with The Jump for Joy Foundation to deliver the “Cease To Be Obese Crusade” walk for charity from 630am-9am. The Jump for Joy Foundation will be putting on a 1 mile fun run/charity walk, comprised of different fitness stations that will challenge participants of all ages. 100% of the profits for the “Cease To Be Obese Crusade” will be donated to the Jump For Joy Foundation. A portion of the proceeds will also go towards a scholarship for a UNLV student doing active research in the Child Obesity field. Vendors, sponsors, and organizations from our community will be out there, including Korabo. Click for more details.

Operation “Vegas 4 Japan”

Italian American Social Club

A number of organizations will be contributing to a charity event to fund raise for Japan from 6:30pm to 9pm at the Italian American Social Club.
Tickets are $20 per person and kids under age 12 get in for free. Performers include standup comedian Keith Lyle and Mike Stigs, Jazzin’ Jeanne Brei & The Speakeasy Swingers, Matsuri, and Korabo.

Mega Yard Sale for Tsunami Relief Fund is sponsored by Japan America Society of Nevada (JASN) and operated by Japan Earthquake/ Tsunami Relief Fund Committee. The event runs from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, but Korabo will be kicking off the event with a performance at noon. All proceeds will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society via JASN. Las Vegas’ 1st Annual Asian Food Festival & Trade Show is a two-day cultural event to promote a greater understanding of Asian countries and cultures to the general public. The festival will be offering 30 authentic Asian food vendors, cultural performances, live entertainment, carnival rides, special guest celebrities and more than 150 multicultural retail stores and exhibitors. St. Rose Dominican Hospitals Dragon Boat Regatta

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals will host the 3rd Annual Rose Regatta Dragon Boat Race and Festival at The Village, Lake Las Vegas Marina on Saturday, October 8. Dragon boat teams from around the country will compete to raise funds to benefit St. Rose Dominican Hospitals’ R.E.D. (Responsible Early Detection) Rose Program as well as breast health services provided by the Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Centers of Excellence including medical care and psychosocial support for uninsured women and men facing breast cancer. Korabo will be performing at 350p.
